After a month-long meandering tour of the US, we are finally ready to leave the country in the morning. Perhaps the word “ready” is a bit strong, but we’ll figure out whatever we’re missing as we go along.
The last few weeks have been extremely fun and interesting already. We worked our way across the country, coast-to-coast and up and down, visiting family and friends. It gave the effect of sampling different lives a day or two at a time. Over the last month, we got to be a newly engaged couple planning a wedding, new parents, seasoned parents, and retirees living in small mountain towns, big cities, open plains, lush forests, and the island lifestyle. It has all been great input as we are working out what we want life to look like for us when we get back in a year.
We owe a big “thank you” to all of our friends and family who gave us a place to sleep, food to eat, and tours of all of the places they call home. It was great seeing you all, and we’re glad we have you in our lives.
First stop on the tour is Panama of which I know exactly 3 things: Panama hats, Panama Jack, and Panama Canal. I expect my knowledge of the country to increase dramatically in the near future. We’ll let you know!
Great having you. We’ll see you again in365 days.
I admire the great restraint you showed in leaving out the phrase, “A man, a plan, a canal, panama.” I would not have had the fortitude.
Actually, I had fully intended to, but it was not so much strength of character as forgetfulness when posting. So since I’m back; “A man, a plan, a cat, a ham, a yak, a yam, a hat, a canal – Panama!”
That’s the longest palindrome
Are your flight miles in the “miles covered” on the sidebar? Also, I want to see Indiana Jones style flight line maps.
Have fun!
Yes, we will update the sidebar with airline miles in addition to the driving miles already on there. No plans to add our bus rides or track our miles on foot. I’ll have to figure out how to animate a map with moving red lines and airplane sound effects…
